Simon Gattinger, Riesling Smaragd Ried Hhereck – 2023

28 year old Simon Gattinger crafts this pure Riesling from a single vineyard site in the heart of the Wachau. Hhereck, a ridge between the Kellerberg and the Loibenberg, is a natural jewel with oak groves, dry grasslands and vineyards. Mineral driven and focused, the wine is textured on the palate, with notes of orchard and tropical fruit. While quite dry (<2g RS), there\'s a touch of clean honey that plays joyfully with the acidity through the long finish.
